I hate quotations. Tell me what you know.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I love having my own point of view and thrive on originality so the quote above really chimes with me. On that basis I should not give them the time of day nor spend any time collecting them.
By the same token, another quote I love is:
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.
Isaac Newton
For me that balances the role of the quote nicely and I have used them over the years as “friends” on my InnerVentures, my inner journeys of the mind. I use them at different times to advance my thinking, for solace and for inspiration.
Here are my favourites which I have curated carefully and categorised into the topics below with a few brief words about the topic. I’ve left the comments open in this page so if you have any you think whorthwile, feel free to suggest it or them.
As a DharmaHacker, Buddhism is central to my world view. But I do not take it as my only teaching or to the extreme. I think learning can be found anywhere and wisdom can be nurtured through multiple means and philosophies: Western or Eastern; modern or classical; rational or spiritual. The quotes in this section cover the full spectrum.
I put these two topics together because I belive in the case of death, only when faced with our mortality, can we be inspired to truly live our lives to their fullest, in the here and now.
A word after a word after a word is power.
Margret Atwood
Could you have put it so succinctly? Only a great writer could, in my view. That is the power of the written or spoken word. When crafted and combined together in the right way, magic happens inside your head. A fire is lit in your soul. New leaps in insight. Most of all, thrilling enjoyment.

Don’t seek, don’t search, don’t ask, don’t knock, don’t demand – relax. If you relax, it comes. If you relax, it is there. If you relax, you start vibrating with it.
Osho
This puts into words precisely what I’ve experienced/lived during this lockdown. Love it.
Love your association of the quote with the current situation, totally agree. No other alternative way of responding would work in my view 🙏😊
