I’m working on a trend report (Future of HumAIn Work) exploring the interrelationship between AI technologies and the employee experience. I experimented researching an aspect of the subject using AI and this post showcases the approach and result.
I was inspired by a recent article I came across after numerous Copilot queries, by Mckinsey & Company entitled Human-centered AI: The power of putting people first. Actually, the article is based on a podcast and is a transcription of a conversation between several participants.
I read the article and felt it absolutely chimed best with some of the main premises of my trend report as I suspected, merely by reading the title.
I then took one of the main uses cases I see employees loving in their work with Copilot for Microsoft 365 (disclosure), the use of PowerPoint to interpret a large document. I converted the article into a Word document and then asked Copilot in PowerPoint to convert it into a presentation.
I felt the initial interpretation was okay – have a look at it yourself (that links to a pdf you can review in the browser or download).
But I wanted to dig in and query aspects further with Copilot as well add sense making and interpretation of my own, and also improve the design.
Here is my human enhanced interpretation – embedded in the page as a pdf this time for easy viewing, but you can also download it too.
The presentation says it all pretty much, on the main point and I hope my interpretation is clear too.
Reading my enhanced version above, you will see that my approach is exactly what is being talked about, i.e. how to take initial AI responses and enhance and add value to them. To really tell if my enhancements added much value, you would have to compare the two versions.
If you are interested in understanding more about how the function works (if you happen to have Copilot for Microsoft 365 available at work), then here is a video on YouTube you can watch to see how it’s done.
If you have any questions on any aspects of this post, hit me up in a comment.
