I’m talking about how the use of AI will accelerate innovation efforts and outcomes for startups and established companies alike. How those that use AI for these efforts will outsmart and outperform those that don’t. Innovation will be a major beneficiary of AI as the process of innovation becomes more efficient and the management of the outcomes of innovation (execution) become more efficient. In this post, I reason how in five different ways.
- Speed of ideation. Imagine asking AI to go off and do research to look at the market and see what was potentially going to sell, what are people talking about at the moment and then generate a new image of what a product might look like compared to other images so that it was different and unique. In 5 years time that is going to be super efficient.
- Speed of execution. Taking it a step further from the scenario I painted above, imagine AI could then go and contact a manufacturer and say here’s the blueprint and this is what I want you to make. It might negotiate with that manufacturer to get the best possible price and then create a go to market plan to be able to sell it with those capabilities. Again, not too far from the realm of the possible in the next 5 years.
- Sense Making. I’ve written about this before: Making sense of SenseMaking – the AI version. With everything that it takes to be successful with innovation, be it for a startup or an effort inside a large established organisation, imagine having an assistant you can sense check your assumptions with. Feedback that you can trust to a sufficient degree to help you take a decision on a hypothesis that can be proven with real data.
- Diffusion of innovation. You’ve done all the work coming up with the ideas, building prototypes and go to market plans and now you actually have to go to market. Generating content that will help your idea spread is where AI can help speed up the time it takes to create campaigns, come up with content and get the word out.
- Data for verification. The data is not going to come from AI but AI working with your data will be invaluable in querying and transforming it into meaningful insights that help you take the business or innovation forward faster and more successfully.
Just some super accelerated thinking on this subject, fittingly. Will be doing more thinking and research about this and incorporate into my new trend report coming soon: Future of HumAIn Work.
